1st and utmost importantly.....MAKE SURE SHE HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED TO GROOM DOGS....and I mean professionally trained....not just a quick course to learn the basics! There are too many self-taught, video taught, book taught amatuer groomers trying to open up pet salons......BAD, BAD, BAD! I bathed dogs for 1 year and then I apprentised under a Master Groomer for 2 years before I even was considered of professional status. After that I groomed in various salons for many years before I took on the challenge of opening my own pet salon....and than many of my jobs were repair jobs from "hack jobs" caused by other so-called "professional" groomers.....(self taught amatures who thought they knew enough to open their own shops). 2nd....Check with your city or county to see what is required as far as obtaining a business license....a DBA name....contact the IRS to obtain tax id # or an EIN....check into getting an accountant....an on-hand attorny...etc.....the list goes on.
